Change of Tenancy is used when responsibility for the electricity account at a premises needs to move to another customer.
This may happen when:
a tenant moves into a property;
a tenant moves out;
a new tenant takes over responsibility for the electricity account;
a company changes the responsible account holder; or
another ownership or tenancy arrangement changes.
For an individual account, the Change of Tenancy is normally carried out by the customer concerned.
For a company account, an authorised representative may act where the applicable company authorization requirements are satisfied.
For a company account, an authorised representative may act where the appropriate company authorization requirements are satisfied.
This normally includes the required authorization letter and supporting company information.
For Change of Tenancy, our normal role is mainly:
explaining what the process does;
advising what information or documents may be needed;
helping the customer understand the correct route;
helping the customer prepare before carrying out the transaction; and
assisting with any separate electrical work that may exist at the same premises.
We should not be understood as the executing party for every Change of Tenancy transaction.
Depending on the situation, the customer may need:
identity information;
company information where applicable;
property information;
tenancy or ownership-related information;
existing TNB account information;
authorization documents where applicable; and
other supporting information required by TNB.
The exact requirements depend on the account and customer type.
Change of Tenancy helps establish who is responsible for the electricity account at the premises.
This is important because account responsibility can affect matters such as:
electricity charges;
deposits;
account obligations;
account-holder responsibility; and
future TNB transactions.
The electricity account should reflect the correct responsible customer.

that should be treated as a separate electrical scope.
For an individual:
the customer normally executes the Change of Tenancy personally
For a company:
an authorised representative may act where the appropriate authorization requirements are satisfied
Our role is mainly to help the customer understand and prepare for the process.
