Because TNB’s electricity supply connects to the electrical installation at your premises.
The customer-side installation involves professional electrical responsibilities such as wiring, supervision, testing, certification, site readiness, and technical coordination.
An Electrical Contractor handles the applicable customer-side electrical responsibilities and coordinates them with the TNB process.
For more detail, see Why an Electrical Contractor Is Needed.
No.
Depending on the job, the service may also involve:
inspection;
electrical assessment;
electrical work;
rectification;
competent-person involvement;
technical preparation;
testing and certification;
application preparation;
coordination with TNB; and
follow-up within the agreed scope.
Submitting a form may be only one part of the overall service.
Yes.
Some TNB matters can be initiated or completed by the customer directly.
However, whether self-service is suitable depends on the type of matter and the condition of the premises.
Being allowed to make a request yourself does not automatically mean the electrical installation is ready for TNB to complete the work.
An existing premises may have missing, damaged, deteriorated, incomplete, or unsuitable customer-side electrical components.
An Electrical Contractor can inspect the site, determine whether it is ready for TNB work, carry out applicable rectification, and coordinate the request once the customer side is ready.
See Existing Premises / Meter & Supply Restoration for more information.
A customer may be able to request an RJO directly.
However, RJO work may involve:
TNB-owned cables or equipment;
electrical circuits;
shutdowns;
customer-side preparation;
sequencing between TNB and contractor work; or
other technical matters.
We can help identify what needs to be requested, prepare the customer side, and coordinate the electrical work with TNB.
For an individual account, the individual normally needs to carry out the Change of Tenancy personally.

We can help explain the process and preparation requirements.
The next step may currently belong to:
TNB;
the customer;
The Victor Chor Works;
a consultant;
another authority; or
another party.
Waiting does not necessarily mean that nothing is happening.
Sometimes there is simply no useful action available until the responsible party completes the next step.
New requirements can appear after:
site inspection;
testing;
TNB review;
discovery of damaged or unsuitable electrical components;
changes to the customer’s requirements; or
other technical findings.
When this happens, the important questions are:
What changed?
Why did it change?
What additional work is required?
What effect does it have on cost or time?
No.
These stages are different:
Submitted
→ the application or request has been sent.
Processing
→ the responsible party is reviewing or working on it.
Approved / Accepted
→ the relevant part has been accepted.
Connected / Restored
→ electricity supply has been connected or restored where applicable.
Matter Completed
→ the intended outcome and agreed responsibilities have been fulfilled.
Submission is therefore only one stage of the overall process.
